Kaziranga National Park (KNP) will open for tourists’ visit from tomorrow

JORHAT, Oct 31: The Kaziranga National Park (KNP) will open for tourists’ visit from tomorrow. Twelve elephants will inaugurate the elephant safari of the National Park by carrying the tourists from Mihimukh to KNP. The Director of KNP said that, this is a usual occasion of the National Park as the park opens in November every year.

The KNP is one of the major tourist attractions in this part of the world. Thousands of national and foreign tourists visit KNP every year. As many as 5,657 foreign tourists and more than 72 thousand national visitors visited the park last year. According to the official report, the park collected more than Rs 80 lakh of revenue in 2009 from the visitors.

There are three entry points for visitors in the park– Mihimukh in Kaziranga Range, Bagori in Western Range and Agoratoli in Eastern Range. The main attraction of the park is– elephant riding, observing wild animals– rhinoceros, elephants, wild buffaloes, swamp deers, thumping of fishes in the beels, varieties of avifauna and rich vegetation.
