NAGAON, Dec 7: Manab Adhikar Sangram Samity (MASS) chief advisor Lachit Bordoloi, while addressing an open meeting on the 18 foundation day of MASS held recently, strongly opposed the decision of the State Government for appointing GM Srivastav as the security advisor to the government. Bordoloi, in his speech, condemned both the secret and open killings going on in the name of insurgency in the State.

The samity advisor substantiated his view by stating the recent killing of 63 Bodo youths who were termed as NDFB militants. He said militancy can only be solved by talks on the table and not with arms and killing.

Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) president Biraj Talukdar, while speaking at the meeting, said the main problem of insurgency in the State is lack of awareness about human rights among the youths. Talukdar further stated that although the International Human Rights Committee was formed way back in 1512, the youths in the State are living in complete ignorance of their rights.

Nagaon Zilla Xahitya Xabha president Dr Naren Kalita also attended the meeting which was presided over by Bubumani Goswami while Budhen Bora explained the significance of the day. THE SENTINEL
