NIIT students remain untraced

JORHAT, Dec 18: Even after six days, police are clueless about the whereabouts of two NIIT students who lived in a rented house at Lichubari, here.

The two, Debashis Phukan and Abhinav Borgohain were last seen six days ago and although the police are following a number of leads, the duo still remain untraced.

Police said that, according to mobile PHE records, they last used their cell phones at Hojai in Nagaon district. The police suspect that from there, the two might have made the way to Dimapur in Nagaland or Diphu in Karbi Anglong district.

While police are not ruling out the possibility of Debashis and Abhinav, joining one of the banned outfits operating in the Northeast, they also suspect the two might be involved in love relationships which might have gone wrong.

The phone records revealed the numbers of a very large number of girls with whom the two allegedly flirted. It could be that they got into trouble with the families of one of these girls and have been imprisoned in some place.

Another source revealed that, the two had developed close relationships with two girls from among a group of students from Nagaland who had been admitted in NIIT.
Whatever, the reason for the disappearance may be, the mysterious disappearance of the two boys, who hailed from Sapekhati in Sivasagar district has caused fear in the minds of parents, whose children are staying in hostel and studying abroad. THE SENTINEL
