More tourist circuits on anvil in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Dec 10: The State tourism sector is all set to get a major boost, if the proposal for creating additional tourist circuits actually come up. Parliamentary Secretary Tourism, Gojen Gadi submitted a memorandum to Union Tourism  inister Kumari Selja while participating in the Inter-State Regional Conference of Tourism Ministers of East and North Eastern States at Gangtok in Sikkim on December 6 to 7 last.

The Parliamentary Secretary requested for tourist circuits in Jairampur, Pangsau Pass, Changlang, Khonsa, Daporijo, Liromoba, Yomcha, Darak, Kamba and Aalo. He also invited the Union Tourism Minister to be the chief guest of Siang River Festival, which is starting from December 11 at Aalo. Shelja has, reportedly, expressed her desire to attend the festival but could not confirm the date. During the two days’ conference, she highlighted various developmental activities being taken up in the states and urged Arunachal Government to take all possible measures to protect the interest of the foreign as well as local tourists. She lamented that tourists were being harassed in some states which gives negative image to the State in particular and the nation as a whole.

“Tourism can only flourish only when there is a cordial atmosphere where tourists can travel and enjoy the beauty without fear”, Selja added.Meanwhile, Gadi highlighted the tourism potential of the State and assured that the people show exemplary hospitality to the visiting tourists and ensure that no inconvenience is caused to them during their stay in the State.
