‘Separate state demand is in Bodo national agenda’

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 11: Bodoland People’s Progressive Front (BPPF) president Rabiram Narzary today said creation of a separate “Bodoland state” is in the national agenda of the Bodos. He conveyed his gratitude to the Government of India for its political decision of carving out a separate Telangana state in Andra Pradesh.

At a press meet held at the party office here today, Narzary, however, termed the BPF’s demand for a Bodoland State is aimed at the next Assembly elections. The Congress and the BPF are staging a political drama on the issue. He alleged that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi had a meeting with his Cabinet colleagues and chalked out an election strategy by raising the “separate Bodoland State” demand. When asked about his stand on the Opposition parties like AGP opposing the creation of a “separate Bodoland state”, Narzary said the leading Opposition party has to maintain a balancing act.
