Over 1.85 lakh mobile phones to militants: APW

GUWAHATI, Aug 28: APW president Abhijit Sarma today said about 1.85 SIM cards of mobile telephones of various telecom companies have gone to militants outfits due to the negligence of the companies while providing such connections.

Talking to newsmen here today, Sarma said two outside firms — Onicra and Matrix BPS — have been engaged to verify the addresses and documents of mobile phone seekers in Asom, but the these two companies have neglected the job, and the result is that mobile phones have been issued to many militants.
